Latest Newsletters

These have now been uploaded and you can find them on the "downloads, newsletters" tab

Eddy Lane, who judged Competition 3 for us, is the current President of the WCPF and he was able to bring us up to date with the latest exhibitions and competitions. Rather than paraphrase what he told us it's best if you look at the sheet he left with us - here.

Results of Competition 4 - Open

Internal competition 4 was judged on Monday 18th January and the winning images can be seen in the Club's Picasa album.

Results of Competition 3 - Artistic Licence

Internal competition 3 was judged on Monday 28th January and the winning images can be seen in the Club's Picasa album.

February Newsletter

This has now been uploaded and you can find it here.

Results of Competition 2 - Open

Internal competition 2 was judged on Monday 5th November and the winning images can be seen in the Club's Picasa album.

Firstly, my apologies for being a little tardy with the latest website updates. I was away in France for virtualy the whole of September, and this has left me somewhat on the back foot. Hopefully it's up to date now.

Results of Competition 1 - Open

The first Club competition of the new season was held on Monday 1st October, judged by Jenny Cox from Cardiff. The winning images can be seen in the Club's Picasa album.

3 Way Battle - Competition Results

This year's competition was hosted by Sodbury and Yate and the judging was presented in Chipping Sodbury on Monday 10th September. Who won? - well, we did and here are the scores:

Sodbury and Yate – 330

Crossbow – 370

Thornbury – 386

Here you can download a contact sheet of the images we submitted, together with scores for them. Unfortunately we don't have similar sheets for the other two clubs. Many thanks to Sodbury and Yate for hosting the competition and we look forward to the challenge of selecting the venue for next year's event (AKA May's Rain Dance).

New Programme (2012 - 2013)

The new programme for the remainder of 2012 and 2013 is now included in this web update

Club Newsletters

Janet has started producing newsletters, which are being emailed to those Club members whose addresses we have. These are now located under the "Downloads/Newsletters" tab.

Programme Feedback - New Facility

The Club values members' opinions about he programme, so if you have any comments or ideas for the programme then please email Janet and she'll make sure that they are added to the agenda for committee meeting discussions. You can email her at:

programme@thornburycamera.co.uk

Internal Competition Rules Change - VERY IMPORTANT

Now, this is important. The Club has purchased a new digital projector. In common with other clubs in the PAGB we have moved to a better resolution of 1400 (horizontal) x 1050 (vertical). You can find the complete rules here. Why is this important? ... because if you submit images in the old resolution (1024x768) they will project smaller - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Beginners and Advanced - Latest

We start the new competition season on 3rd October, with entries due in on 12th September. Some beginners have been promoted to advanced, so you might like to check the new status list here.

Photoshop Actions

You may remember that Martin Russell (our guest speaker on 1st March) told us about "actions" (macros) that are available to Photoshop users. Of particular interest was "Digi Daan" (conversion to black and white). I've posted a link to this in the "Downloads"section, together with a link to "ActionCentral " (but you'll need to do some digging around on this particular site - there are lots of actions").

Competition Entries - Digital Media

Important Note : Would entrants please give their digital entries on CD, not memory sticks. This is to minimise security risks associated with memory sticks.

Gallery of Other Pictures

I have at last managed to get the gallery started. It's not complete, and I've had to start it using some of the committee's pictures. We would like to display good pictures to showcase the Club's work so, if you have some good pictures that you'd like added then send me an email (not pictures at this stage) to:

webmaster@thornburycamera.co.uk

Alternatively, bring along a CD on a Club night.

Yahoo User Group

Don't forget, if you are a Club member and want to join the Club's Yahoo user group then send an email:

usergroup@thornburycamera.co.uk

... and I'll send you an invitation.
